September 2019 – President’s Message
We are looking forward to a tremendous year with NJAIHA and the membership. In December, we are the host of the Annual Northeast Industrial Hygiene Conference in Princeton, NJ at the Westin. This will take place on December 6, 2019 and features what we believe is a very interesting educational full day conference. We will also have great vendors displaying their products and services. On December 5th, 2019, we will host the full day of PDCs in South Plainfield, NJ at PSEG. We have four terrific PDC’s which includes an Ethics presentation for those that need it for their CIH CM points. The outgoing officers did a great job in preparing me to take on the President role. I wish to thank Doug Glorie for his unending support and the rest of the executive board for assisting me in this transition. We have a great team at NJAIHA and we want to continue the success of the past.
One great highlight of the past few months was the National AIHce in Minneapolis. The Twin Cities are truly an idyllic place to hold the conference. I moderated and gave a talk on Sampling for Tear Gas and Pepper Spray and it was well attended (related photo – p.12). I attended a private event at US Bank Stadium that was phenomenal and included a tour of the stadium as well as some local tasty food.
I want to congratulate and thank Dan Preisler who is now NJAIHA President Elect. Additionally, National AIHA will be sending out a ballot in September requesting your consideration for a potential by-laws change. This is in regard to the Local Sections Council and its future. Please vote on this important issue.
We hope to feature excellent educational content at our dinner meetings. If you would like to participate and have some technical aspect of your job and would like to share a 45 minute-1 hour presentation, please let me know at svanetten@emsl.com. I look forward to hearing from everybody.
Sincerely,
Scott VanEtten, CIH
President NJAIHA
