Holiday Greetings and Happy New Year to all of our NJAIHA members. We had very successful NorthEast Regional Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition (NEIHC) and Professional Development Courses (PDC) held in Princeton, NJ this past December.
NEIHC- Metro NY, NJ, and Philadelphia AIHA Sections
The NEIHC had approximately 160 attendees from the tri-state area as well as 26 vendors. Marianne Santarelli of the Metro NY AIHA Section and her team did a fantastic job of finding the speakers and organizing this program. The day included a wide variety of presentation topics including Ebola and Legionella Updates, Government and Regulatory Updates, and PCBs. The PowerPoint slides for the majority of these talks are posted on their website at https://www.aiha.org/LocalSections/html/Metro%20NY/meetings.htm for those who would like to review them.
NJAIHA PDCs
Craig Doolittle and the NJ AIHA Board Members did a great job at setting up the four PDCs for our portion of the NEIHC. They were well attended with approximately 25-30 attendees per PDC. The PDC topics include Ethics & the Industrial Hygienist, Indoor Air Quality, Indoor Investigation for Dampness and Mold Growth, and Hazard and Control Banding. A special thanks to all of the presenters who volunteered their time for the PDCs – Barry Weissmann, Harris Brody, Jack Springston, Chin Yang, Brent Altemose, and Robert Sussman. Overall a well-spent educational day for all CIHs and safety professionals who attended.
Please note that I will be spearheading the 2015 NJAIHA PDCs so if any of you have topics you would want like to present for a PDC or have a topic of interest please email me at president@njaiha.org.
We look forward to seeing all of at our meetings this year and don’t forget March is our joint meeting with NJ ASSE and MABSA.
Sincerely
Stephen Siegel, CIH MBA
President NJ AIHA
